Home made cream style corn. This is the recipe my mother and grandmother used before they had canned cream style corn !!
Ingredients
  • 3 cups corn cut from uncooked cob, scraping cobs to remove the milk from the cobs (5 to 6 ears)*
  • ½ stick butter or margarine
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • ¼ to ½ cup cream or milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Instructions
  1. Melt the margarine or butter in a medium-size skillet.
  2. Add the flour stirring to make a roux, stir in the ¼ of a cup cream or milk, salt, pepper, sugar and corn.
  3. Add more cream or milk if the mixture is too thick.
  4. Make it the texture of can creamed style corn.
  5. Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, 10 to 15 minutes or until corn is tender.
  6. Spoon into serving dish
