Fried Apples are a delicious side dish for breakfast. A change from jam or jelly. Serve with pork sausage, scrambled eggs and biscuits.
Ingredients
- 4 apples (Red Delicious or Granny Smith will work), peeled or unpeeled, your preference.
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- ⅓ cup sugar or brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Core and peel the apples, then cut into circles, slices or chop them.
- Melt the butter in a heavy skillet over medium-low heat.
- Saute the apples in the butter, turning often, until light browned (be careful and don’t burn them).
- Sprinkle the sugar on top of the apples and add the water. Cover the pan and continue cooking until a syrup develops and the apples are soft and coated.
- Serve as a side dish for breakfast.
