Fried Apples are a delicious side dish for breakfast. A change from jam or jelly. Serve with pork sausage, scrambled eggs and biscuits.
Ingredients
  • 4 apples (Red Delicious or Granny Smith will work), peeled or unpeeled, your preference.
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • ⅓ cup sugar or brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions
  1. Core and peel the apples, then cut into circles, slices or chop them.
  2. Melt the butter in a heavy skillet over medium-low heat.
  3. Saute the apples in the butter, turning often, until light browned (be careful and don’t burn them).
  4. Sprinkle the sugar on top of the apples and add the water. Cover the pan and continue cooking until a syrup develops and the apples are soft and coated.
  5. Serve as a side dish for breakfast.
